The article draws attention to one aspect of human interaction, that is becoming more and more popular nowadays, to computer-mediated communication (CMC). We will briefly introduce the difference between writing and speech and the notion of CMC will be explained. It is followed by a short discussion about the role of e-mails in both business and academic environments and its linguistic aspects. We will also have a look at how people communicate by e-mail, whether formality or informality is reflected there.
Finally, the conclusion is made to see what kind of media it represents and what we can expect in the future.
